Family Portrait Love

Pre-COVID, I made the opportunity to meet with me potential clients in person prior to confirming a photo session. With COVID, I’ve modified my complimentary consultation, which now occurs over the phone.

Building a relationship with my client(s) and getting to know them prior to a shoot has always been incredibly important to me. In getting to know you, my client, I am able to create more accurate images, portraying who you are as an individual or a family. And capturing those authentic moments and photographs of who YOU are truly mean the world to me. YOU matter and your memories matter.

Shortly after Thanksgiving, I travelled to Gwinnett County for a family photo shoot at McDaniel Farm Park. I hadn’t been there in years and when I arrived, there were numerous photographers already conducting sessions in this beautiful city park: weddings, engagements, portraits, quinceaneras…You name it, it was pretty much being photographed. Shooting there does require time and patience, but my clients arrived just as many photographers were wrapping up. Their arrival time could not have been more perfect and we had the golden hour as well to shoot in. What’s not to love about that?

I often tell my clients the first fifteen minutes or so of a photo session is the “warm up” portion of the shoot. It’s for us to get to know one-another and more importantly for them to losen up and get comfortable in front of the camera and equipment. I never choose a prime backdrop for the “warm up” portion as oftentimes, I don’t deliver those to my client(s.)

This session went so well! A family of four plus their tiny dog. This was my first session in some time that included a dog, but she was very cooperative and photogenic as well. We got (what I consider) the perfect framed wall portrait and Christmas card shot!


Happy clients = Happy Photographer. Next year’s sessions for Christmas will look a bit different as far as the backdrop is concerned as I have a little idea. And I am so excited about this set up for Christmas 2022, I wish it were nearer.
